A blonde & her husband are lying in bed listening to the next door neighbor's dog. It has been in the backyard barking for hours & hours.  The blonde jumps up out of bed and says, "I've had enough of this".

She goes downstairs.

The blonde finally comes back up to bed and her husband says, "The dog is still barking, what have you been doing?"

The blonde says, "I put the dog in our backyard... let's see how THEY like it!

Pickle People & Golfers

Our remaining pickleball players had a nice potluck dinner to celebrate the end of the season.

Randy White provided the musical entertainment.

It was a tad breezy so forks were used as creative page holders.

Volunteer clean up crews worked to wash down the courts before other summer outside visitors came to play.

Thank you for your time guys!

The 99ers, Palm Creek Women's golf group, continues to play every Wednesday, 8:30am! Come join them!

Golf Cart Upholstery

Our weather remains absolutely beautiful.  Today's high is in the mid 70s.  No 90s in the forecast until late next week.  We're LOVI'N it!!

Had to stop for a quick photo this morning.

Met Neil Jeffers ( Maintenance Manager) as he was riding from one project to the next.  Sun Communities picked the right man for this job.  Thank you, Neil.

I was amazed at how many people commented on the blog post about water heaters.  There was certainly a lot more interest than I anticipated.  Phillip from Son's plumbing stopped by yesterday to finish installing the alarm on the interior water heater.  He said he has already received two jobs as a result of my post.

Our next project is to get our golf cart reupholstered.  The Arizona sunshine just rots the fabric of the cart seats.  Because we're here year round, we insist on cloth seats because the plastic ones get too HOT.

You can see how the fabric just dries out and cracks.

We need the carpet replaced as well.

We're going to try AJ's Upholstery on W 1st Street here in Casa Grande.  We drove over there yesterday to make arrangements.  AJ will pick up the cart sometime next week.  Will be sure to give you the before and after photos and whether or not we recommend him for future use.  After our interview yesterday, he certainly seems to know his stuff!  His business card says "autos, bikes, boats, awnings, convertible tops, and home projects."

There was a knock on the door this past Saturday morning.

I opened it to find a young, well-dressed man standing there who said:  "Hello sir, I'm a Jehovah's Witness."

So I said "Come in and sit down.”

I offered him a fresh cup of coffee and asked "What do you want to talk about?"

He said, "Haven't got a clue.... Nobody ever let me in before."

Cinco De Mayo, Summer Calendar, Pool Hours, Doves, Cactus flowers

Our summer events are starting next week!  Sign up at the front desk to help us celebrate Cinco De Mayo.  It's a potluck lunch in the ballroom at 12 noon on Thursday, May 5.  Sign up to bring your favorite dish AND YOUR OWN DINNERWARE.  (The dinnerware is in CAPS because so many of us forgot to bring it last summer. )

Stop at the front registration desk and pick up a summer calendar.  Still lots of activity to keep us entertained in the coming months!

Pool hours are changed by popular demand.  Many residents submitted this suggestion on the feedback forms that were distributed this spring.  Children's pool hours are at the main pool  from 9am to 9pm daily.  April 15 through October 15.  Children will swim in the main pool only which reserves the north pool and the activity pool for us seniors.

Had to smile at mama dove who  was soooo determined to build her nest in her usual spot despite the best efforts of the home owner.  There is chicken wire all along the ledge to no avail.  It just helps hold the nest in place.

Looks like the plastic owl is no deterrent either as they've made good friends already.

More cactus flowers.  All the saguaros are in bloom now.  You can see them all along the highway too.

Dinner, movies, bingo

Thank you once again to the people who send us restaurant gift cards as thank yous for the blog or for our house watch service.  These cards are soooooo appreciated.  I definitely prefer these surprising little gifts instead of charging a subscription fee to the blog.

This morning Don and I took the morning off and went to Mimi's Cafe for breakfast.  Haven't been there for well over a year as our last visit was not pleasant and we delayed going back.  Wow.  Have things improved there.  We were very pleased with our meal, the service, and the cleanliness of the restaurant.  The menu offered a large variety of pleasantries for breakfast.  Yum!

Don may not look like he's having fun but he IS.  That's a happy face.

A group of gals went to see the Jungle Book yesterday.  It was VERY impressive!  We kept saying "how did they do that?  How did they make that movie?"  The animals and interaction was outstanding.  Computer animation has come a long long way.  Very entertaining box office hit for young and old.

I didn't take any pictures last night but a carload of us went to the American Legion for bingo again.  I must tell this to all you Palm Creek bingo players because I won a special game jackpot on Number 55!!!  How about that!

Our weather continues to be totally awesome.  Gorgeous!  We had some strong wind yesterday but we didn't mind as the temps were down in the 80s making it still pleasant.  We rode around the park this morning to check for any wind damage but didn't find any.  All is well.

Airplanes, new houses, people, doves

Patti Illston at Site 1941 leaves her potted cactus plants on the covered patio while she is away for the summer.  I water them once each month on our inspection visits.

Mama dove watches over the plants very carefully as she nests here each year.  It's really a perfect place for her nest....quiet, secluded, and shaded.  I imagine it takes Patti a while to clean up after her "renters".

I spotted this HUGE crane at work over by the main lake on #9 of the golf course.

I had to stay and watch as the driver skillfully navigated the crane back to a truck to pick up this heavy motor or pump thingy.

He very gracefully lowered it into perfect position.

This is just a sample of the huge summer projects that keep our park so nice and attractive.  Our winter guests don't get to see the work it takes to maintain the resort.

The park model on the sales street is being moved to a new location as there is a proud new owner for it.

Our April mornings have been absolutely perfect so pickleball players rejoice.  Still 36 active players on this day.

The poker family still meets nightly for some friendly competition.

From my patio with my morning coffee, I watched the RC planes in a dogfight battle.  I hopped in the cart and drove over for a closer look.

Gene Bond
All three of these men (Gene, Brian, and Ron) acquired their plane hobby while here at Palm Creek.  The club has 65 members, meets monthly, has elected officers, work details, and flying events.  I didn't realize the group was that large and so organized.
Brian Younge
I was invited to sit in the pilot's seat of Ron St. Pierre's helicopter.  With the camera mounted on the front of his aircraft, I saw exactly what the pilot would see.  A chair is required as Ron says people can sometimes get motion sickness or fall over off balance.

As you can see by the big smile on my face......I LOVED IT.  How fun!  It reminded me of our days of flying in our AirCam plane.  I'm glad Don wasn't along as he doesn't need another expensive hobby in addition to his flight sim equipment.

Here's Ron flying the helicopter I "rode in".

The new homes keep arriving as Phase 3 continues to grow.
