Bistro Opening!

All you need to draw a crowd is to add the words "FREE FOOD".  The Bistro did just that today and offered free samples of their new items.

They will be making these items FRESH every day for the season.
We enjoyed samples of :  potato salad, macaroni salad, coleslaw, fresh yummy cinnamon rolls, smoothies, fresh meat slides, AND (best of all) delicious french fries!  They were awesome!

Here's the new menu so far:

The line was moving at a good pace and proved to be FUN as we greeted so many friends that recently returned.

Thank you to the entire staff for maintaining a smile while they worked through the long line.

There's Barb Poole at the left of this photo.  She is doing a fantastic job with the Palm Creek Facebook page!  Log in daily for a great briefing.

The gal at the right right of this photo is Robin who will be in charge of food services this year.  Welcome!

It was a great day to "break in" the patio for lunch.

Nationals Week Coming Up

The pickleball courts are busy already.  I visited with a couple folks over there yesterday and learned that there are some clinics being held daily for some of the registered contestants.

These contestants are coming from all across the country.

How nice of Palm Creek to allow these special one-week guests access to sites right next to the courts.  This should make their stay even nicer so they are close to all the events.

I copied this photo from the PC pickleball site.  Beautiful shot!  No wonder the nationals want to be here.  Makes me even more proud to live here.  I haven't seen any news or publications about the upcoming events or contests but I'm sure we'll hear something soon.

Elsewhere in the park, we came across another palm tree to fascinate us.  Look at the big bundles of fruit this tree has produced.  There are SO MANY kinds of palm trees.  Basically they look pretty much the same but each variety produces different blossoms and fruits.

Sure wish I knew more about them all.

Water aerobics is definitely active this year.  I hear they are adding more classes....that will make three times daily.

If you see the big flag at half-staff tomorrow (Sunday), it is to honor Rose Mofford who recently passed away.  She was the first female governor of the state of Arizona.

Flowers!!

Halloween decorations are fun!

I LOVE watching the flowers arrive.  It makes my back and knees ache just thinking about planting all of these flowers.  Best wishes and thank yous to our landscaping crew.

Tom Gottfried sent this photo of one of our residents timing the sprinklers so she could make it across the golf course sidewalk without getting wet.  I've done that many a time myself.  Actually, its fun and I enjoy it.

Then Tom caught this rainbow prism as the sun shined upon it.  The course is turning green FAST.  It adds to the excitement of the season.

RC Airfield + Flowers!

Another beautiful sunny morning at our desert paradise.  We spotted an RC plane in the sky so drove over to check it out.  Ron St. Pierre was just coming in for a landing when we arrived.  He says the pilots really like and appreciate their new runway.

Ron St. Pierre

If you've never stopped out there to take a close look, you should because its very impressive.  All the work tables are built at the proper height to make it easier to work on the planes.

Ron showed us his old "poofy" batteries that need to be replaced.  The old poofy one (Ron says that's the "technical" term) will be replaced with the new one on the right.

Soon Ron Penner showed up with his colorful masterpiece.

John Westgate came strolling over with his plane too.  He said he was waiting for Maurie Sumption to show up and help him make some adjustments to his plane.  He calls Maurie the guru of RC planes and told us how he serves as trainer to new pilots.  I guess the goal is to keep a rookie's airplane at least three mistakes high.  Maurie encourages anyone who is interested, to come down and join their group.

Thank you to all four gents for the fun and informative session.

Hot off the press!  Our wonderful flowers are being planted this week.  It's always sooooo exciting to see them planted and bring their beauty to our park.
